Adult/Child CPR and AED
National Safety Council (USA) - to print
Course Description
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) can strike anyone at any time, including seemingly healthy people without a diagnosed heart condition. Providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) along with the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can restore a normal heartbeat and flow of oxygen to the brain and other vital organs. Portable AED's are available to the general public and very simple to use. The AED delivers an electric shock known as 'defibrillation' to the heart. The CPR & AED course is based on the latest, 2 5 American Heart Association (AHA) CPR guidelines. Students will learn Basic Life Support (BLS) for the treatment of choking and cardiac emergencies, CPR, defibrillation techniques, and what to do after successful use of the AED. The course also covers the function of the heart, early intervention for heart disease, and stroke prevention.
